One of the purposes God calls men into ministry is to reveal the mysteries of the Kingdom to His people. According to the Apostle Paul, we fellowship in these mysteries. He said he knew about the mystery of Christ by revelation and was called to make people see the fellowship in it (see Ephesians 3:3-9).

When the Lord confirmed my calling, it soon became apparent that one of my main assignments was to reveal the mystery of iniquity to the Body of Christ which He revealed to me little by little and step by step. I have been experiencing an unfolding understanding of this mystery for several years now.

The following Scripture passage has been subjected to many interpretations by people with preconceived viewpoints throughout the church age. Amazingly, few have realized that the temple spoken of here is actually the physical body of believers in Christ Jesus. The Lord no longer, nor never again, will dwell in a temple made with human hands (See I Corinthians 3:16).

“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.” (II Thessalonians 2:37)

So where do we find this man of sin in these latter days? In God’s temple—Christian people. This, my dear brother and sister, is the real mystery of iniquity. Christians have demons inside them, and this is why Jesus cast out demons everywhere He went and always sent His disciples out to do the same thing. This ministry was clearly for the lost sheep of the house of Israel with one or two exceptions for someone not of God’s house.

My key calling and purpose in ministry, like Jesus, is to destroy the works of the Devil. (I John 3:8) And where is the Devil working but in the most strategic and effective place—God’s temple—in God’s people. Through my years of ministry, I have encountered and cast countless hordes of unclean spirits out of believers in Christ.

One key understanding the Lord made more clear to me recently is how demonic powers can become so completely integrated into us that we cannot see them. Isaiah said, “O Lord our God, other masters (Lords) besides You have had dominion over us.” (Isaiah 26:13) A study of the word, “dominion,” reveals that it actually means, “to marry, to possess, to own.” It is two becoming one. Only the Holy Spirit, through the Word of God, dividing soul and spirit, can bring this kind of oppression to the light, and then only if one is willing to humble him or herself, choose brokenness and fully submit to the hand of the Lord.

One reason some believe a Christian cannot have a demon is because they are blind and undiscerning about the state of their own soul. These folks do not detect what’s working in and through them. It always grieves me to see a professing believer channeling the talk, attitudes and actions of unclean spirits instead of the Holy Spirit. It is even more grievous to witness these manifestations in preachers and teachers, who usually are the last to admit any such influence and go on to hinder God’s sheep by teaching that such cannot be so.

Brethren, if we don’t deal with demons, the Kingdom cannot come, because Jesus said, “If I cast out demons with the finger (Spirit) of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.” (Luke 11:20)

Personally, I have often had to war in the spirit against the voices and witchcraft that have come against me and my family just to maintain this ministry. I have wanted to give it up and go do something else, but I don’t see any valid ministry of the Gospel that does not line up with Isaiah 61:1-3 and Luke 4:18-19. If a ministry does not fit there, it must be off-track.

Isaiah prophecies:

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,

     Because the Lord has anointed Me

     To preach good tidings to the poor;

     He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

     To proclaim liberty to the captives,

     And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

   To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,

     And the day of vengeance of our God;

     To comfort all who mourn,

  To console those who mourn in Zion,

     To give them beauty for ashes,

     The oil of joy for mourning,

     The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;

     That they may be called trees of righteousness,

     The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”

Jesus proclaims fulfillment of the prophecy:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,

     Because He has anointed Me

     To preach the gospel to the poor;

     He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

     To proclaim liberty to the captives

     And recovery of sight to the blind,

     To set at liberty those who are oppressed;

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

 Remember, Jesus cleansed the temple in Jerusalem twice—once at the beginning of His ministry (John 2:14) and again before He was crucified (Matthew 21:12). In preparation for what is soon to culminate on this earth, the Lord is cleansing His temple through deliverance of His people from unclean spirits.

“And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, as the Lord has said, among the remnant whom the Lord calls.” (Joel 2:32)

May we all rise up and hasten Him coming!
