The first Passover has been seen as a night when the Lord passed over the homes with the blood on their lintels and doorposts. A word study of the Hebrew reveals that He actually passed over their thresholds and entered their dwelling places. The spirit of destruction then had to pass them by because of the blood. The Lord was given the "red carpet" welcome still common today.
