KEEPING IN TOUCH
Three Scriptures to heed, believe and hold to in a time like this:
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, 'Abba, Father.'” -ROM. 8:14-15
The driving force of this plague is not death, but fear. We are not fighting the virus so much as we are fighting the fear of getting the virus. What allows the virus to come in is an open door of fear. We must fight fear with the spirit of adoption which tells us we are the Heavenly Father’s children and He is our protector and healer. Rely on Him more than sanitizers.
The power to kill us is not in the enemy’s hands. When John saw Jesus on the Isle of Patmos, the Lord declared to him: “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.” -Rev. 1:18
“Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. “ -HEB. 2:14-15
When we feel fear, we have made the wrong choice to believe a dreaded outcome rather than what the Lord has promised us. Actually, we believe more what the liar says than what the wonderful, trustful Word of God says. Change your mind—repent and find peace.
Finally, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” -GAL. 5:1
I have been continuing to pray about this matter of the gatherings. You may have read the email I sent out on an early Sunday morning March 22 regarding attendance at our gatherings.
“Let it be the choice of each one of us individually and personally, but let it also be with the understanding of the possible consequences if we decide to obey God rather than man.”
I know our Lord is the ultimate authority, but I also believe we should obey His written word unless man's authority oversteps the Word of God and hinders our relationship with Him. Here's what we have for the present:
“Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore, whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.” (Romans 13:1-2)
The question is, “What is essential for our life in the Lord?”
As believers and disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, our gathering together is essential, but perhaps, for a period of time, it may not be expedient. As this plague continues, there may come a time when it would be essential for all of us to come together. Let us each hear the Lord about this. If you feel you should be at our gatherings, then come; otherwise, be with us on the live streaming.
I have no fear of being arrested, if that's what the Lord would have and, perhaps, that time may come. Meanwhile, let's all stay close to the Lord and as close as possible with each other in the Spirit.
Courage, strength and love to you
