Unlucky Thirteen?

September 13, 2017

For those who believe in luck, thirteen is not a good number. Many consider it an unlucky number. Actually, there is nothing in the Bible about luck. On the other hand, God's Word clearly tells us there is blessings and cursings. One who is considered unlucky is actually being affected by a curse or curses which, by the way, can be broken.

The number thirteen is found throughout the Bible, and it is never in a good light such as the number of sins that proceed out of the heart of man listed by Jesus in Mark 7:21-22 and the number of times the "dragon" appears in the book of Revelation.

Interestingly enough, even the thirteenth chapters and verses in the Bible speak of rebellion and curses.

Such is the case in 1 Samuel 13:22 where we find: "So it came about, on the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people who were with Saul (a rebellious king) and Jonathan. but they were found with Saul and Jonathan his son."  This was because the the Hebrews' enemies, the Philistines, had taken their weapons from them and left them helpless for the day of battle.

Only Israel's leaders had any weapons, which left no hope for victory. Kinda looks like much of the church today don't you think?

All of God's people need to know what their weapons really are and be equipped with them. This is a true leaders true calling. God help us!
